An dieser Stelle stand die Brühlschule, vormals Konfessionsschule der Katholischen Kirche. Vom Februar bis September 1896 unterrichtete hier als Schulamtsverweser der schwäbische Katholik und spätere Zentrums-Politiker und Reichsminister Matthias Erzberger (1875-1921). Er wurde 1921 wegen seiner politischen Überzeugung ermordet.

(English Translation)
The Brühl School, formerly the denominational school of the Catholic Church, once stood here. From February to September 1896, Matthias Erzberger (1875–1921), a Swabian Catholic who later became a Centre Party politician and Reich minister, taught here as an acting school administrator. He was murdered in 1921 because of his political beliefs. He advocated Christian solidarity and defended the poor. He was a member of the Reichstag, initiated the Peace Resolution of 1917, signed the 1918 Armistice and helped prepare the way for German democracy.
