1. Stadtkirche St. Mauritius / St. Mauritius Town Church Marker

Ein erstes Gotteshaus wurde im Zuge der fränkischen Christianisierung der Alamannen im 8. Jhdt. auf diesem Platz in Holzbauweise errichtet. Die älteste Urkunde über diese Kirche und Feuerbach ist der Codex Hirsaugiensis des Grafen Adalbert II. von Calw aus dem Jahre 1075. Ein gotisches Kirchenfenster von 1350 und der Taufstein von 1463 sind wertvolle Zeugen der Kirchengeschichte. Im 30-jährigen Krieg war St. Mauritius eine Wehrkirche. Ihre heutige äußere Gestalt erhielt die Kirche im Jahre 1789. In den Jahren 1933/34 baute Architekt Samuel Raithelhuber die seit 1927 denkmalgeschützte Stadtkirche grundlegend um. 2001 gab ein Innenrenovierung dem Kirchenraum seine heutige Gestalt.

(English Translation)
The first place of worship on this site was a wooden church built during the Frankish Christianization of the Alemanni in the eighth century. The oldest document concerning the church and Feuerbach is the Codex Hirsaugiensis of Count Adalbert II of Calw, dating from 1075. A Gothic church window from 1350 and the baptismal font from 1463 are important witnesses to the church’s history. During the Thirty Years’ War, St. Mauritius served as a fortified church. The church received its present exterior appearance in 1789. In 1933–1934, architect Samuel Raithelhuber extensively remodeled the town church, which had been protected as a historic monument since 1927. An interior renovation in 2001 gave the sanctuary its present appearance.
