Hier wohnte der Maler und Grafiker Otto Herrmann ab 1937. In diesem Jahr heirateten er und seine langjährige Gefährtin Maria Mayer und bezogen in ihrem elterlichen Haus eine Atelierwohnung. Der Künstler musste unter den Nationalsozialisten seine freie Arbeit aufgeben und eine Stelle in einer grafischen Anstalt annehmen. Erst nach dem Krieg, als die Bombenschäden am Haus beseitigt worden waren, konnte er seine künstlerische Arbeit wieder aufnehmen. Charakteristisch für ihn ist der gesellschaftskritische Ansatz seiner Kunst, die heute dem Expressiven Realismus zugeordnet wird. Maria Herrmann unterstützte ihn zeitlebens in seinen künstlerischen Bestrebungen und gründete 1999 die Otto & Maria Herrmann Stiftung.

(English Translation)
The painter and graphic artist Otto Herrmann lived here beginning in 1937. That year, he married his longtime companion, Maria Mayer, and they moved into a studio apartment in her parents’ house. Under the National Socialists, the artist was forced to give up his independent work and accept a position at a graphic-design company. He was able to resume his artistic work only after the war, when the bomb damage to the house had been repaired. His art is characterized by its socially critical approach and is now classified as Expressive Realism. Maria Herrmann supported his artistic endeavors throughout his life and established the Otto & Maria Herrmann Foundation in 1999.
