This sanctuary building dedicated 1869
The first church built on this corner in 1838... Was enlarged and rebuilt in 1853-1869-1912 and 1958. The present Gothic sanctuary, dedicated 1869, survived the Great Johnstown Flood of 1889 and is said to have saved many lives as it stood as a small check against the onrushing waters. It also withstood the flood of 1936 and a disasterous fire in 1950.
