1. Kelter / Wine Press Marker
Winegrowing has a centuries-old tradition in Feuerbach. According to Bebenhausen Abbey’s property register, two wine presses already stood here in 1356 and belonged to two different lords of Frauenberg. The winegrowers were tenants who had to bring their grapes to their landlord’s press and pay the required dues. The large estate-owned wine press mentioned in 1524 was rebuilt several times and completely reconstructed by the rulers of Württemberg in 1789. The municipality purchased the wine-press building in 1834. It was partly destroyed during the Second World War and repaired in 1946. In 1992, the WOGV assumed operation of the protected historic wine press to help preserve Feuerbach’s vineyards.
