Octroi Toll House
From 1843 to 1924, the city collected the octroi tax and market fees here. The octroi was a consumption tax on food, beverages, and heating fuel. Market fees were charged on goods brought into the city for the weekly market. Later, the public weighbridge and the weights and measures office were located here.
