1. Tower Hill Passageway: White Tower Marker
Inscription. The White Tower was begun by William the Conqueror and is the oldest building in the Tower of London. It was built as a fortress and a royal palace, but has also been used as a prison. It now contains historic arms and armour from the Royal Armouries.
