Inscription.
Named for George Washington Carver, Carver Central High School was built in 1956-1957 and was Covington County's only high school for African Americans. After completing the ninth grade, students from Hopewell, Mt. Olive, Seminary and Sanford were bused to Carver for their high school education. Following integration in 1970, it became Collins Junior High School and was renamed Carver Middle School in 2007. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2019.
