Nashville in Brown County, Indiana — The American Midwest (Great Lakes)
Soaring
by Elder Heart
As a rising tide lifts all boats, so a sudden wind fills all sails. These soaring fall leaves, driven skyward by a sudden wind, are not only an iconic symbol of Brown County, but also represent Arts Village Brown County and Elder Heart rising together, bonded by community, to reach for their dreams.
The sculpture, “Soaring”, is the symbolic gateway to the Town of Nashville’s arts and entertainment district, Arts Village Brown County.
We want to thank American warriors for their service. Elder Heart’s mission is “Warriors helping warriors through community projects.” Through this mission we hope to bring awareness to the 22 veterans who commit suicide every day, and help end this epidemic.
This is a collaboration of:
• Elder Heart and American veterans.
• James Connor, a Brown County sculptor who oversaw the construction and design.
• Larry Webb who painted the sculpture.
• Three-Sixty Group out of Indianapolis who developed the original concept design.
• The Nashville Arts and Entertainment Commission.
Special gratitude goes to the following people, who without them this project would not have been possible.
Chris Doggett, Josh Lannon, Jimmy Whited, JD Potynsky, Sara Dawdy, Kroot Steel, Indiana Oxygen, The Town of Nashville and American veterans.
Erected 2014 by Elder Heart.
