More about this memorial. Allen Newman designed "Hiker Memorial Statue," a fourteen-foot-high bronze sculpture with a granite and concrete base. The figure is a "hiker", the term for the foot soldier of the Spanish-American War. He stands with one foot extended forward, wearing hat and boots, and holding a rifle. The sculpture was designed to commemorate the veterans of the Spanish-American War.
