Inscription. Before entering the merchant business, Lund was proprietor of the Prince of Wales Hotel in Mount Forest. He then learned the butcher trade and combined with a grocery in this building. In 1880, Lund added the section on the comer before moving to Michigan. Simon Langley then opened the Langley Hotel here in 1881 with Martin Bolger as the innkeeper. Eugene Murphy purchased both sections in 1885. The north section was later his grocery and hardware with residence above. In the south section, he operated a successful Grain & Seed business. Mr. Murphy met his unfortunate demise after an accidental fall into the elevator shaft in 1927. The business was then operated by his sons, George and Ennis Murphy, until 1951. Over the years, tenants in the north section were grocers and travel agents. Beaver Lumber occupied the south part from 1965-1972 until Harry Quartel converted the building into a Florist Shop. In 2001, Claudette Like opened Mount Forest Physio and joined both sections of the building. In 2020, Shaveta Kang began operating Forest Physiotherapy.
