Inscription.
This store was built in the 1890s as the Keystone Trading Company. It was the largest general merchandising establishment in the area and was fully stocked with "everything to meet the needs of miners and their families." A prominent businessman, James Halley III, purchased the store in 1917. He changed the name to Halley's Store in the 1930s. James Halley IV (Junior) worked in the store as a young man and acquired the business in 1952. He operated it until 1980. It is the oldest continuously operating business in Keystone. The building is on the National Register of Historic Places.
