1. Mount Forest Heritage Building 114 Main Street South Marker
Inscription.
William C. Perry was son-in-law of Capt. Wm. Wylie, Seaman, a highly respected resident who settled in Mount Forest in 1858. Perry conducted his legal business here as well as landlord for other tenants. It was known as the Perry Block. The Ontario Bank leased the building from 1886 to 1911 then the Bank of Montreal until 1933. Dr. Arthur Perry had his office here prior to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 134 in 1946. Agnes Cockburn purchased the building in 1952 for the family residence and Insurance Office for her son William Cockburn who operated Coburn Insurance Brokers Ltd. William operated the business until 1990 at which time his two sons, Jeff and Scott Coburn purchased the company. In 2016, Andrew Coburn, son of Jeff Coburn acquired Coburn Insurance Brokers Ltd. from Jeff and Scott.
