It's home to TPC Sawgrass (opened 1880), the PGA Tour's iconic "Stadium Course" with its legendary 17th Island Green, hosting The Players Championship since 1982, often called the "fifth major." The county also hosts the PGA Tour headquarters and the World Golf Village (est. 1998). Its role has cemented Florida's status in global golf history.
