1. Memorial Avenue Bridge Marker
Inscription. Built in 1889 by the Groton Bridge and Manufacturing Company a 266 foot wrought iron bridge was located at this site. This single-span Parker through-truss provided a link between Newberry and Williamsport, then connecting Bridge Street and Erie Avenue, respectively. In 1919 a timber deck was installed. And in 1925 a concrete pier was constructed at its center to provide additional support. The structure was replaced in 1987.
