Schools in Feuerbach
Inscription.
Schools in Feuerbach
In 1559, Duke Christoph ordered the establishment of schools in every municipality in Württemberg. Since then, education has been provided continuously and conscientiously in Feuerbach. At first, lessons were held only in winter because the children had to help in the fields and vineyards during summer. After 1900, Feuerbach’s proud citizens funded several large new school buildings. The Bismarck School, built in 1906, was even considered the largest school in the Kingdom of Württemberg for many years.
Today, with approximately 8,000 students attending 18 schools, Feuerbach is one of the region’s most important centers of education. In addition to general schooling, the vocational schools offer numerous specialist training programs. Approximately 80% of the students come from outside Feuerbach.
The schoolboy figure was donated by Ruth Maier and Werner Weber.
