Nashville in Davidson County, Tennessee — The American South (East South Central)
Noble's Corner
Dr. Albert H. Noble, a pharmacy graduate of the University of Nashville, built his drug store on this site in 1929. Brentwood was little more than a wide spot in a dusty, gravel road. That same year the road became a Federal Highway and was paved. From day one, the place became the gathering spot for the community and was so even after his son Glenn converted it into a restaurant in the late 1940's. Later, Glenn also built a grocery store, a service station and the Travelers Rest Motel on the north portion of the property. Dr. Noble's daughter, Jean Noble Frank built Brentwood's first shopping mall on the south portion of the property, as well as a post office building that served the community for years. Glenn and his family operated the motel until December of 2000 when the property was sold to Walgreens to be converted back to the original commercial use of the property, a drug store. This plaque serves to commemorate the many years that the Noble family owned, operated and supported business on this corner and the excellence with which the family served the community of Brentwood.
