Did you know...
Until the mid-20th century, from the bus stop located between Notre-Dame-du-Nord (then called Notre-Dame-des-Quinze) and St-Bruno-de-Guigues on Route 101, you had to go down a gravelly slope (Laverlochère moraine) and cross three large mounds of earth over a mile heading north-south. This place came to be called “Les Côtes à Perreault”.
Indeed, five related families of settlers named Perreault settled on these
slopes between 1907 and 1910. They came from Saint-Alban and Sainte-Anne-la-Pérade and had a total of 44 children, several of whom were born in the Côtes. A sixth Perreault family (Mathias), from Joliette, also settled there in 1914.
However, they were not related to the first arrivals. Since then, there has always been one or more Perreaults owning lots in the Côtes.
