Bluecoat
After the school moved to the suburbs in 1906 the building became one of the country’s first arts centres, and its future was secured in 1927 with the establishment of the Bluecoat Society of Arts. Today, managed by Bluecoat Arts Centre, it remains at the centre of the city’s cultural life, with a contemporary exhibition and performance programme, participatory events, artists’ studios, cultural businesses, shops, café, craft centre and garden.
