1. Herschel Grünspan Marker
Inscription.

Herschel Grynszpan lived here. Born into a Polish-Jewish family. He emigrated to France in 1936. On learning of the deportation of Polish Jews from Germany on 28.10.1938, including his own family, he assassinated the German diplomat vom Rath as a representative of the Nazi regime on 7.11.1938. His act served as a pretext for the pogrom of November 1938. Grynszpan was extradited to Germany where he was held in Sachsenhausen concentration camp and Moabit prison. The circumstances of his death are unknown.
