Inscription.
This property has seen numerous owners throughout the years:

1903  August Sudman built a new store building on the west side of Main Street. It was known as the “A. Sudman Mercantile” but was soon called “The Corner Store”.

1910  George C. Duvall and Co. bought the “Corner Store”.

1914  George C. Duvall and Co. sold to Fanny and Velma Fish (a month later they sold to Floyd Jones and Clyde Empson).

1915  Mr. Empson sold his interest to Mr. Jones who was going into the banking business.

1917  Mr. Jones sold to Walter W. Bower, who was retired and bought and sold properties. He leased the building to three men: H. W. (Bertie) Potter, Will Gumaer and Jack Mankind. They enlarged the store by building an addition on the south for bigger dry goods stock and ready-to-wear clothes. They renamed the store the Oshkosh Mercantile Co. and sold in the 1920's.

1927  Mr. Bower signed the ownership over to his wife, Sylvia, and she owned it until 1944.

1944  Sylvia Bower sold the building to H. G. Davidson who owned the building until his death in 1958. At that time, the Nebraska Society for Crippled Children bought Lot 1.

sold Lot 1 to Ralph and Allen Davidson. By 1972, Ralph and Allen owned Lots 1 and 2. The building was eventually sold for taxes to the City of Oshkosh.

1978  Glen McCormac bought the building and then sold it to Robert Elliott. By this time the building was in severe disrepair which prompted Mr. Elliott to tear it down and construct the present building. It became the Pow Wow Café. He ran it for five years and decided to retire. The building was sold to Dennis Miller, Sr. who turned the building into a dentist office for Tim Jensen, DDS, a law office for Rick Jensen, Attorney-at-Law and Realty office for King Rhiley, Jr.

During its long lifetime, the “Corner Store” housed many businesses. It started out being a hardware store and as the need arose there was a clothing store, grocery store, bakery in the south part of the building, Mr. Kayton had an electrical shop and many other businesses too numerous to mention.
