Neues Tor

New Gate
These remains of a gate were first erected by Hannover architect Ernst Ebeling (1804 to 1851) on Waterloostraße. The four sandstone pillars formed part of an ensemble and were flanked by two guardhouses. The east guardhouse was demolished in 1895 and the west one around 1960. The remaining gateposts were moved to this position in 1961 and approximately mark the spot of the late medieval Lein Gate.
