3. Marker on the Bennington Battlefield
On the afternoon on August 16, 1777, Colonel Samuel Herricks Vermont Rangers were joined by New Hampshire militiamen under Colonel Moses Nichols. They emerged from the woods at this point and charged the British breastworks at the crest of the hill, killing or capturing almost all of the British troops.
