1. Horatio Nelson Lookout Point Marker
Inscription. Lookout Point is named in honor of British Admiral Horatio Nelson who fought for Grand Turk's liberation from French occupants in March 1783. The French occupied Grand Turk for a short time and famed Horatio Nelson led a daring but failed attack to retake the island.

To the west lies Columbus Passage. A subject of debate some historians believe Christopher Columbus' first landfall in the New World was on Grand Turk. To the east is the Northeast Reef, the shallow reef which caused hundreds of shipwrecks off Grand Turk.

Columbus Trail runs to the west and to Black Rock Beach. Buccaneer's Path runs to the east to windward Smuggler's Beach.

Regarding Horatio Nelson Lookout Point. Joining the Royal Navy at the age of 12, Horatio Nelson was to rise through the ranks of British sailors and enjoy being one of the greatest and most loved people of his time.
