1782 The Military Order of the Purple Heart 1932

My stone is red for the blood they shed.
The medal I bear is my country’s way
to show they care.
If I could be seen by all mankind
maybe peace will come in my lifetime.

Regarding Purple Heart Memorial. The granite monument is dedicated to recipients of the nation’s oldest military decoration, which was established by George Washington during the Revolutionary War. The monument includes the Purple Heart insignia and the words “the medal I bear is my country’s way to show they care.” It is the 10th such memorial in California and one of 130 others located throughout the United States.
