Inscription.
A simple 18th century farmhouse, built on Governor Thomas Dongan’s Staten Island manor, the original owner-builder is unknown. During the American Revolution, the house was the residence of Joseph Christopher, a member of the Richmond County Committee of Safety.
 
Erected by Historic Richmond Town.

3. Christopher House
In 1750 Hans Christopher received a land grant for this area. The house might have been built by one of his grandsons.

4. Christopher House
Joseph Christopher, another grandson of Hans Christopher, lived in this house during the Revolutionary War. He was a member of the Committee of Safely, which met here and often advised General George Washington about enemy activities in and around British occupied New York.
