Outdoor leisure activities for a Victorian family included croquet, archery, bicycling, swimming, painting, photography and boating. This photograph (circa 1890) reveals that the Rosecrantz family had a sense of humor; this bucolic rowing scene was filmed far from any water, on the carriageway.
