Latta in Dillon County, South Carolina — The American South (South Atlantic)
The Edwards House
Dr. and Mrs. Edwards raised their family here and the interior has been restored to reflect the dιcor during their time here. For the extended Edwards and Haselden families the home became a gathering place and was enjoyed by both sides of the Edwards family. For the convenience of his medical practice Dr. Edwards had his office constructed next door - now the Dillon County Museum.
The town of Latta purchased the house from the Dillon County Historical Society for $1 to save it from demolition. The Latta Revitalization Commission has since restored the house, and it is now available for functions and offers space for two offices. Members of the Friends of the Edwards House provide for its upkeep and continued improvements.
