Inscription. On May 15, 1905, in this area, The City of Las Vegas was founded with the auction of lots in Clark's Las Vegas Townsite by San Pedro, Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad and Las Vegas Land & Water Company, predecessors of Union Pacific Railroad and Upland Industries Corporation in Nevada.
 
Erected 1980 by The Las Vegas Diamond Jubilee Committee.
