The city of Culver City incorporated in 1912, built its first permanent City Hall on this site in 1926. This is a portion of the original Spanish landgrant, Rancho La Ballona.

Regarding Culver City. When this historical marker was dedicated in 1981, the original 1926 City Hall building was still here. Designers of todays city hall incorporated original decorative cast concrete elements, and built a partial replica of the 1928 front faηade which occupies the original footprint. The 1981 historical plaque was relocated to a nearby grassy area, and the new city hall was completed in 1995.
