1. Donald T. Dust Home Marker

Inscription. This house, erected in 1893, was occupied and restored from 1976 until his death in 1992 by Donald T. Dust, one of the earliest and strongest leaders in the movement to save Newark landmarks. He founded the Newark Preservation and Landmarks Committee in 1973 and guided its work for two decades, while working as an official of the Chamber of Commerce and the City of Newark. He pioneered in the restoration of James Street houses, and helped 20 blocks of this neighborhood become the first Newark district on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
