Inscription. African-American Creole guitar and banjo player, songwriter, composer, singer, author, historian, teacher, storyteller, humorist, actor and painter. Jazz Hall of Fame member. Recipient of National Endowment of the Arts Music Master Award and numerous other honors. Played on more that 1,000 records of Jazz, Swing, Blues, Bebop, and Traditional. Husband of legendary singer Blue Lu Barker.
