On September 11, 2001 America's history was permanently altered at 8:45 a.m. when American Airlines Flight 11 slammed high into the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. Seventeen minutes

Americans were quick to realize that this was no accident but instead a heinous act of terrorism. The unthinkable had happened. America had been attacked on her own soil. For the next 85 minutes, the world held its breath and watched in horror and [dismay?]. At 9:09 a.m. the mighty South Tower [collapsed?] to the ground followed at [10:28?] a.m. by a sympathetic, weeping partner. When it was over, the world wondered at the devastation, the loss of so many innocent souls and the pain and suffering of loved ones. The only comfort to be found amid the dust and rubble were stories of unselfish acts of bravery and courage from [people?] who rushed to help.
According to the New York Times, as of April 22, 2002 2,826 people, from more than 115 countries were [believed?] as having died in the attacks on the World Trade Center. Among the dead were:
- 348-firefighters and paramedics
- 33-New York Police Department Officers
- 37-New York/New Jersey Police Officers
- 30-New York/New Jersey-Port Authority

In the nation's Capitol, news of the attacks of the World Trade Center [pivoted?] down the corridors at the Pentagon. For more than 20,000 civilian and military personnel at one of the world's most secure military [establishments?], it was inconceivable they were to become the next target of terrorism.
At 9:38 a.m. twenty minutes before the collapse of the first World Trade Center Tower, American Airlines Flight 77 with 59 people on board plunged into the west side of the symbol of America's military might. For the imminent and unsuspecting passengers and crew on board that flight, [?] hours of terror ended. The casualties in Washington D.C. added another 125 people who died at the Pentagon to the 59 aboard the airplane for a total of 184 victims to this day of terror.

3. 9/11 Memorial - With Liberty and Justice
While we frantically search for solace, reasoning and compassion for our fallen fellow Americans the [terms?], "God Bless America", "Sweet Land of Liberty", and "I Have a Dream" become more important every day. Now we have another two words that will be part of the story of America. Those valiant people on Flight 83, which came down near Shanksville, Pennsylvania said, "Let's Roll."

Regarding Cal Expo September 11 Memorial Plaza. The City of Sacramento sent disaster teams to NYC following September 11th. Larry Davis was a Fair Manager who died in 2006 and his wife coordinated the completion of the memorials and they were dedicated in 2007. The Pentagon memorial is also engraved, arranged alphabetically. The Pennsylvania memorial has names around the edge and is a water feature.
