At this site on May 9, 1950, Sam Walton opened his original "Walton's 5-10" store - the forerunner of Wal-Mart Inc.

There is a second marker outside the 5-10 store at the curb on North Main Street. The marker is of Ferold G. Arend. The inscriptin on the marker states:
