1. Woodleaf Hotel Marker

Inscription. Built in 1858 by Joseph Wood using brick made on the site with native clay. The graceful style of architecture is unique in this region of California. The hotel was a favorite stage stop for wealthy ranchers. Mining and lumber men, President Ulysses S. Grant, entertainer Lotta Crabtree and Black Bart were among visitors to stay at the luxuriously furnished hotel during the 1800’s.
