Inscription. The close proximity of the gold mines and the railroad construction contributed to Marysville’s large Chinese population in the mid to late 1880’s. When those activities diminished, the Chinese worked in various occupations, many as laborers building rock walls throughout Northern California.

This section of rock wall was relocated from Sutter Buttes in a tribute to the Chinese that settled in Marysville’s Historic Chinatown.

Erected 1992 by Marysville Lions Club.
