More about this marker. In 1947, the City of Richmond chartered Richmond Memorial Hospital “as a permanent memorial” to the young men and women from the Richmond, Chesterfield, and Henrico area who gave their lives in World War II. The hospital opened in 1957 and the large marble Roll of Honor was placed in the chapel. In 1998, Richmond Memorial Hospital relocated to Hanover County and changed its name to Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center.
