1. Water Battery Marker
The Water Battery, also known as Green Battery, was one of a series of batteries built at West Point during the Revolutionary War. It covered the flank of the Great Chain and was able to fire down the Hudson River. The 1779 ordnance report lists one 12-pounder positioned here, which served as an advanced warning for batteries just upriver.

The thickness of this parapet was not adequate to resist artillery fire, and its location at 85 feet elevation would have limited its artillery to plunging fire.
