Regarding Griffith Piano Company. This building is alternatively referred to in the form as the Griffith Building and the Griffith Piano Company Building. The Griffith Piano Company was a well known and established maker of pianos and organs. When it fell upon hard times, the building was sold to various individuals. At one point, there were plans to make it into condos. However, its location in a not too attractive part of Newark seems to have doomed the project.
