More about this monument. Lieutenant George Wheeler's survey expedition in Nevada left this astronomical marker here in 1872. The survey said they left it at Lat 37 55' 26.07", Long 114 26' 18.27". It is actually at Lat 37 55' 37.56", Long 114 26' 49.80".
