Inscription. When the Baldwin Block was completed in 1882, this section was rented first and became a saloon with a shooting gallery and pool table. By 1892 the building was being used as a sample room for the Clarendon Hotel across the street. Extensive improvements were made before a drug store moved in around 1900, followed by a general mercantile and a number of other retail establishments. The interior has been remodeled several times for modernization and to create space for merchandising.
