Inscription. Lawrence County's greatest philanthropist, he endowed the Rector Scholarship Foundation at De Pauw University with $2,250,000 in 1919. To date 5,100 awards have been made, 22 to Lawrence County natives.

Erected 1988 by Lawrence County Sesquicentennial Committee.
