The Artillery Park National Site of Canada commemorates 250 years of military activity in the heart of Québec’s fortifications. You can visit these buildings.
Ⓐ The Arsenal Foundry, where you can examine a model of the city of Québec created in 1808.
Ⓑ The Gun Carriage Warehouse, constructed in 1815.
Ⓒ The Dauphine Redoubt and is magnificent Officier’ Mess.

5. Women Workers in Canada’s Military Munitions Industry plaque
English:
Thousands of women made a significant contribution to the military munitions industry, notably here at the Dominion Arsenal where they began working in 1882. In keeping with contemporary beliefs about women’s innate abilities, they were assigned tasks requiring meticulous and patient work. They skilfully performed the dangerous operations of filling, assembling, and inspecting munitions in privately-owned and state-run plants across the country. During the Second World War, over 7,000 women worked at the Arsenal alone, testifying to the indispensable labour women provided in the defence of Canada.

Des milliers d’ouvrières ont grandement contribué à l’industrie des munitions militaires, notamment ici, à l’Arsenal fédéral, où on les trouve dès 1882. La perception alors répandue de leur nature méticuleuse et patiente confinait les femmes à des tâches particulières. Elles effectuaient de dangereuses opérations de remplissage, d’assemblage et d’inspection des munitions dans des usines contrôlées par l’entreprise privée ou l’État un peu partout au pays. Pendant la Deuxième Guerre mondiale, plus de 7 000 travailleuses ont œuvré à l’Arsenal seulement, témoignant de l’apport indispensable des femmes à la défense du Canada.
