Regarding Adam's Express Agency. From the "Walking Main Street Jackson" tour brochure: Our history says 30 Main is where the 1862 Jackson fire started. Ere that, Francis and Paul Reichling moved in to buy and assay gold. Earlier, the site housed rivals of Wells, Fargo & Co.; Hunter & Co., Adams & Co. and Pacific Express. One-story bricks arose here and next door. Both stores acquired second floors early in the 20th century.
