Regarding Brumel's Building. From the "Walking Main Street Jackson" tour brochure: This one even looks like an old building! It boasts what seems to be the original iron fire shutters and brick facade which Moses Brumel had erected. A Brumel cornerstone or engraved stone is in the shop's cellar. It dates from 1854. Two frame buildings burned in 1855 and 1862 fires before this one rose by August, 1863.
