1. Badin - Roque House Marker

Inscription. Rare surviving example of a poteaux-en-terre (posts in the ground) house, an ancient form of construction prevalent in Mississippi Valley during 18th and early 19th centuries. Probably fewer than 10 extant examples in U.S.

Erected 1981 by Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism.
