Significance: The Post Office is an outstanding local example of eclectic architecture, with the Italian Renaissance influence evident in the light Florentine arches, window hoods and colonettes. In addition, the building, which served as the city's post office and federal courthouse (1895-1933) and then as the City Hall (1933-1956), was a significant government building for the city. --Historic American Buildings Survey
