1. Chatham Historic District Marker
Chatam was a very pro-patriot settlement throughout the Revolutionary. Its strategic location between the British on Staten Island and the Continental Army in Morristown made it an important obstacle for any British attack on Washington's camp.
Inscription. Scene of Washington’s Headquarters and massing of Continental troops prior to march on Yorktown August 27 – 29, 1781.
