1. Gen. Samuel Hopkins Marker

Inscription. Born in Va., 1753. On Washington's staff & in many campaigns, American Revolution. Came to Ky. in 1797, as Transylvania Company agent. Helped lay out town of Henderson. Chief Justice of first court, 1799. Member of Ky. House, 1800-06, and Senate, 1809-13. Commander-in-Chief, western frontier, 1812. Congress 1813-15. Hopkinsville and Hopkins County named for him. Died 1819.

Erected 2010 by the Kentucky Historical Society Kentucky Department of Highways. (Marker Number 717.)
