These iconic steps were featured in William Friedkin's 1973 Warner Bros. classic motion picture, based on the novel and screenplay by William Peter Blatty, The Exorcist.

In the film's climactic ending, Father Karras (actor Jason Miller) plummets the seventy-five steps to his death.

3600 Prospect Street, at the top of the steps, played the MacNeil house in the movie, costumed in a mansard roof with a wooden addition to bring it closer to the steps.
